GEORGETOWN, TEXAS β Starting on April 20, after-school meals will be provided at no charge to children between 3:30 and 4:30 pm who are enrolled in an afterschool enrichment/educational program at the sites listed below in Georgetown ISD:
Cooper Elementary, Frost Elementary, Purl Elementary, and Williams Elementary.
This new benefit is funded through sponsorship of the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) At-Risk Afterschool Meals Program.Β
Individual students do not need to qualify for free or reduced meals to benefit from the after-school program. These sites qualify for funding because they are located in an attendance area where at least 50% of students are eligible for free or reduced-price meals. All meals are served at no cost during after-school programs and must be consumed on-site.
βThe district is already providing snacks at these locations to support after-school enrichment,β said Mike Thibodeaux, Director of Nutrition Services in Georgetown ISD. βQualifying and expanding the program to offer full meals is a real win for families while providing additional nutrition to fuel our young learners.βΒ
