St. Davidโs Georgetown Hospital has named Janie Thompson as its new chief operating officer. Thompson assumed her new role on June 1.
Since 2019, Thompson has served in various roles within St. Davidโs HealthCare, most recently serving as vice president of operations at St. Davidโs South Austin Medical Center. In this role, Thompson oversaw the operations and business development of clinical services including labor and delivery, transplant and cellular therapy, and oncology. She also led facility renovations and expansions, including the hospitalโs womenโs services unit, 34-bed medical/surgical unit and 690-space parking garage.

Prior to her role as vice president of operations at St. Davidโs South Austin Medical Center, Thompson served as the hospitalโs associate administrator. In this role, she developed strategic growth plans and provided operational oversight. Thompson started her career with St. Davidโs HealthCare as an executive resident, completing rotations with the healthcare systemโs hospital executive teams.
Thompson earned her bachelorโs degree in neuroscience, as well as her masterโs degree in healthcare administration, from Trinity University in San Antonio. She is also a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
St. Davidโs Georgetown Hospital, part of St. Davidโs HealthCare, is a 118-bed facility offering a range of services, including a 24-hour emergency department with a Level IV Trauma Center; Certified Primary Stroke Center; inpatient and outpatient surgery including robotics; advanced pulmonary intervention; critical care capabilities; acute inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation; orthopedics and joint replacement; and maternity and newborn services with mother-baby couplet care close to home for Georgetown families.
