Preservation Georgetown and The Williamson Museum is celebrating Preservation Month during the month of May and inviting the community to join in the fun!
βMay is Preservation Month in Georgetown,β the organization wrote on Facebook. βJoin us at City Council [Tuesday night] at 6:00pm as Mayor Schroeder makes the official proclamation.β
In addition to the official proclamation, there are several events happening during the month to celebrate historic preservation in Georgetown.
- May (All Month): Rachel Hancock β Art with Heart Exhibit | View Hancockβs watercolor paintings of historic Georgetown buildings in the Georgetown Public Library first floor CafΓ© Gallery Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM and Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Exhibit will be available for viewing through June 13, and prints will be also be available for purchase. Profits from purchases will be donated to the Georgetown Main Street FaΓ§ade & Sign Reimbursement Grant Program.
- Wednesday, May 11: Tuesday Talks & Building Birthday Party for the Old Post Office on Facebook Live at 12:00 PM
- Friday, May 13: Adultish: Ghost Tour at the Williamson Museum at 7 PM (Registration Required)
- Saturday, May 14: Downtown History & Architecture Walking Tour at The Williamson Museum at 9 AM
- Sunday, May 15: Marking History with live costumed storytellers at the Williamson Museum at 716 S. Austin Avenue from 10 AM to 12 PM
- Wednesday, May 18: Tuesday Talks & Building Birthday Party for the Mileham Building and 213 W. Eighth St. on Facebook Live at 12 PM
- Saturday, May 21: Downtown History & Architecture Walking Tour at The Williamson Museum at 9 AM
- Saturday May 21: Marking History Tour at The Williamson Museum from 10 AM to 12 PM
- Saturday, May 21: Create a Building Ornament Childrenβs Workshop at Grace Heritage Center at 2 PM
- Sunday, May 22: We Built This Cemetery City Tour at !OOF Cemetery located at 1117 E. 7th Street and the Williamson Museum from 4 PM to 6 PM
- Wednesday, May 25: Tuesday Talks & Building Birthday Party for the M.B. Lockett and P.H. Dimmitt buildings on Facebook Live at 12 PM
- Saturday, May 28: Downtown History & Architecture Walking Tour at The Williamson Museum at 9 AM
- Friday, June 3: Main Street Breakfast Bites β Hidden Stories of Historic Georgetown will be held in-person at 8:30 AM in the Friends Room of the Georgetown Public Library (402 W. Eighth Street or virtually through Zoom (link available through registration)
