On April 23, a local Georgetown resident will share his father’s story as part of a Holocaust Remembrance Day presentation.
Jack Fingerhut from Congregation Havurah Shalom of Sun City will share the story of his father, Arnold Fingerhut, whose testimony was recorded by Steven Spielberg’s ‘USC Shoah Foundation’ project, according to the Georgetown Public Library.
“Arnold was hidden by Catholic neighbors in their barn in Poland for four years while World War II raged across Europe,” according to the library. “After liberation, he immigrated to Germany where he began to build a new life. But his story was just beginning, as Arnold would soon take the first steps toward the promise of the American dream.”
Attendees will be able to see and hear clips from Arnold Fingerhut’s testimony during the free event which will be held at the Georgetown Public Library, located at 402 W 8th St.
