As the January 31 property tax deadline approaches, Williamson County officials are urging property owners to plan ahead — especially if paying by mail. Recent changes in how the U.S. Postal Service processes and postmarks mail have made timing more important than ever for deadline-sensitive payments.
To help residents avoid penalties and interest, the Williamson County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office has shared the following reminders and payment guidance.
From the Williamson County Tax Assessor-Collector’s Office
Larry Gaddes reminds property owners that 2025 property taxes must be paid in full by January 31 to avoid penalties and interest.
Payment options include:
Checks may be placed in exterior drop boxes located at each office.
Property owners may also pay online by searching for their property through the county’s property search system. Credit and debit card payments incur additional vendor fees, while e-check (ACH) payments are free.
Payments may be mailed to 904 S. Main St., Georgetown, TX 78626. Additional payment methods are available through the county’s official payment options.
Important reminders for mailed payments:
Placing payments in a USPS post office box does not guarantee a postmark for that day.
Mail payments several days before January 31 to allow sufficient USPS processing time.
Request a postmark at a Postal Service retail location or obtain a Certificate of Mailing.
A commercial postal meter stamp is not accepted as a valid USPS postmark.
Payments made through a bank’s online bill service may be delayed, which can result in penalties and interest.
