GEORGETOWN, Texas—In November, St. David’s Georgetown Hospital completed a $4.6 million expansion of its surgical capacity with the addition of a new 650-square-foot operating room, the hospital’s fifth OR and most technologically advanced space to date. Designed primarily for robotic surgeries, the project expands access to complex surgical care for residents of Georgetown and surrounding communities.
With the opening of the new OR, local patients no longer need to travel far for cutting-edge surgical procedures. The new operating room is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, enabling surgeons to perform a wider range of minimally invasive surgeries using advanced robotics, bringing high-tech healthcare directly into the community’s backyard.
“The new operating room is the largest one within our facility,” Kyle Landry, chief executive officer of St. David’s Georgetown Hospital, said. “More than adding space, we’re expanding access to world-class surgical care for our neighbors and delivering it in a space built for innovation and precision.”
St. David’s Georgetown Hospital now operates five surgical suites. Rooms one and two are dedicated to orthopedic procedures, while rooms three and four support general surgeries. The newly added fifth room is the largest and most advanced, purpose-built for robotic capabilities and designed to meet the community’s expanded healthcare needs.
“This expansion reflects our commitment to putting our patients first,” Landry said. “By investing in technology and talent right here in Georgetown, we’re making it easier for patients to receive the care they need without leaving town.”
The fifth operating room will undergo its first scheduled robotic surgery this month.
