Georgetown continues to stand out across Texas as its downtown district and local partners earn major statewide recognition for design, innovation, and community impact.
This year’s Texas Downtown 2025 President’s Awards Program brought multiple top honors back to Georgetown, reinforcing what so many residents already know, we’re fortunate to call a place home that puts real energy into preserving its charm while pushing for progress.
These wins reflect years of collaboration between city departments, local businesses, and community supporters working to keep downtown vibrant, creative, and welcoming.

Two Georgetown projects took home top honors for cities with more than 50,000 residents in the Texas Downtown 2025 President’s Awards Program, which celebrated its 40th anniversary this year. Georgetown’s winning projects showcased the city’s leadership in downtown innovation, preservation, and promotion:
- Georgetown was named the inaugural recipient of the Best Texas Downtown Award.
- The Brass Peacock won first place for best commercial interior.
The Texas Downtown Association is an independent, statewide nonprofit representing cities and towns of all sizes, economic development corporations, chambers of commerce, local associations, small businesses, and individuals. This year, 144 entries were submitted across 11 award categories from 32 Texas downtowns statewide, with Design and Achievement categories judged by separate panels.
In addition, Georgetown’s Downtown and Tourism Department earned several other state-level industry awards, including the following:
Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association
- Gold, Urban Design Category — Georgetown Downtown Master Plan
Texas Festivals and Events Association
- Gold, Best Event Video Promotion — Red Poppy Festival
- Gold, Best Commemorative Poster — Red Poppy Festival 2025 Poster
- Silver, Best Pin or Button — Two Step Inn 2025 Event Pin
- Bronze, Best On-Site Décor — Red Poppy Festival Butterfly/Red Poppy Photo Op Display
“These recognitions highlight the Downtown and Tourism Department’s continued commitment to preserving Georgetown’s historic charm, fostering creative partnerships, and delivering exceptional visitor experiences that celebrate the city’s unique sense of place and community pride,” Downtown and Tourism Director Kim McAuliffe said.
