New scholarship covers full tuition gap for high-achieving students facing financial barriers in Travis, Williamson, and Hays counties
AUSTIN, Texas — Concordia University Texas has announced the launch of the Concordia Texas Promise program, a new scholarship initiative designed to expand access to higher education for students with the highest financial need. Beginning in Fall 2025, the program will cover the remaining tuition costs for eligible traditional and transfer undergraduate students from Travis, Williamson and Hays counties after federal, state, and institutional aid has been applied.
The Concordia Texas Promise program reaffirms Concordia Texas’s commitment to making a Christ-centered, high-quality education more accessible and affordable for prospective students in Central Texas.
“We believe that financial barriers should not stand in the way of a student’s ability to achieve their academic and career goals,” said Dr. Kristi Kirk, president and CEO of Concordia University Texas. “The Concordia Texas Promise is an investment in the potential of our community’s students and in the future of Central Texas.”
The Concordia Texas Promise program offers full tuition coverage for eligible traditional and transfer undergraduate students who are U.S. citizens and Texas residents living in Travis, Williamson or Hays counties. To qualify, applicants must demonstrate financial need with a Student Aid Index between -1500 and 3000 based on FAFSA results and maintain a minimum unweighted cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. The program awards up to 25 scholarships annually, depending on funding and applicant qualifications, and these scholarships are renewable each year as long as students continue to meet academic and financial requirements.
Applications for the fall 2025 semester are due by June 1, 2025. Applications for the spring 2026 semester are due by Nov. 1, 2025.
Students must also complete a campus visit or attend a Concordia Texas admissions event and plan to enroll full time (a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester).
