Chase the Chief Raises $32,000 to Boost Physical Education in Georgetown ISD Elementary Schools

Hundreds of students and families turned out to walk, run, and “chase the chief” in a fun, community-centered event that not only encourages fitness but directly supports health and wellness initiatives in GISD schools.

“This event is a shining example of how our community comes together to invest in students,” said Stacy McLaughlin, Chase the Chief Board Member and GISD Trustee. “Physical activity is not only essential for maintaining a healthy body but also for supporting emotional well-being. It is crucial for our community to create enjoyable and engaging ways for students to stay active from a young age, helping them build lifelong healthy habits.”

Funds raised through Chase the Chief will benefit PE programs at all GISD elementary campuses, supporting equipment needs, wellness initiatives, and activities that help foster lifelong healthy habits in students.

“Chase the Chief shows our students that fitness can be fun,” said Paige Hoellen, GISD Coordinator of Health and Physical Education. “The support we receive through this event allows us to create more engaging and inclusive physical education experiences for every child. We’re so grateful for this partnership.”

Since its inception, Chase the Chief has grown into a highly anticipated annual tradition, combining fitness, family fun, and community collaboration. The 2025 event is already in planning stages, with goals to expand participation and impact even further.
