Finalists for the 2023 President’s Awards Program have been announced. For over 30 years, the awards program, sponsored by Texas Downtown (TXDT), has recognized outstanding projects, places, and people of Texas downtowns.
BeLocal Georgetown is a hyperlocal newcomer’s guide built upon the goal of connecting the newest families in town with the Georgetown locals Word-of-Mouth favorites. We have been selected as a finalist for the “Best Downtown Partner Award,” which recognizes a business that is positively impacting the community and contributing to the revitalization of downtown. At BeLocal, our mission is to ease our newcomer’s transitions and help them get plugged into our community as quickly as possible.
We do this by partnering with local businesses and sponsors to carefully curate a “yellow brick road” that will lead them to their new favorite places, activities, and people. Our guide encourages newcomers to become active in our community, support our local businesses, partner with our charities, and ultimately makes Georgetown feel like home.
TXDT was established in 1985 to connect and serve communities that are committed to downtown vitality. The organization is an independent, statewide nonprofit that represents cities and towns of all sizes, economic development corporations, chambers of commerce, local associations, small businesses, and individuals.
“I am thrilled that BeLocal is being recognized on a state-wide level for being such a great partner to Downtown Georgetown as well as the city at large. This is a highly competitive award program, and to be recognized as a semi-finalist is a big deal. We will find out in a month if they are the big winner, but they already are winners to us!”
