The City of Georgetown has issued several updates and rescheduling notices due to the ongoing and upcoming weather.
“📢Several storms expected to hit Georgetown this week, with the worst expected on Saturday,” the city wrote. “National Weather Service has areas, particularly east of us, getting up to 4” of rain through Monday. Our rivers & creeks are already at or near capacity. With the ground already saturated (we’re in our 6th week of potential flooding conditions!), flooding is possible. ⚠️Please be weather aware before you travel.
🚧 Blue Hole trail crossing remains closed. The San Gabriel Park pedestrian crossings open, but are likely to close again with flooding.
☝️Our outdoor warning siren tests have been canceled Saturday.
Areas of Georgetown at particular risk for flash flooding:
📍Quail Valley toward 19th Street
📍Golden Oaks/Shady Hollow/Airport Road
📍Berry Creek entrance off Hwy. 195
📍Along San Gabriel River + Lake Georgetown + Berry Creek + other bodies of water & low bridges”
Additionally, the upcoming riverbank cleanup event planned for Saturday, June 6, has been postponed.
“⚠️ Due to sustained and expected rainfall, the June 5 San Gabriel River cleanup has been postponed,” the city wrote. “We are tentatively looking at June 26 for the new cleanup date.”
