The City of Georgetown is seeking input from residents through a survey about City services, which is conducted every two years. The survey was mailed to a random sample of 3,500 residents this month. It is expected to take about 12-15 minutes to complete. All answers are anonymous.
The survey is being conducted for the City of Georgetown by ETC Institute, a leading firm in the field of local governmental research.
Survey results will inform future City budgets, capital improvement projects, departmental workplans, and new programs. The survey is a way to measure resident satisfaction with City services and perceptions about living in Georgetown.
“Results from our resident survey are important to the City Council and staff as we create strategic goals, identify budget priorities, and develop capital improvement plans,” Mayor Josh Schroeder said. “We hope all those who receive a survey will respond to help us shape the services and programs we provide.”
Residents may complete their survey by mail, by phone, or online at georgetownsurvey.org. To respond by phone, residents may call ETC Institute toll-free at 888-801-5368 (English) or 844-811-0411 (Spanish). Residents are encouraged to complete the survey as soon as possible, ideally within one to two weeks of receiving it in the mail. The survey will remain open through early- to mid-January, but early participation helps the research team meet response goals and begin analyzing results. Prompt responses help ensure the City receives feedback in time to guide upcoming decisions. Responses from residents who are not in the survey sample will be included in an appendix to the survey report.
Results from the most recent survey of residents in 2023 showed 94 percent of residents said the overall quality of life in Georgetown was good or excellent and 70 percent said for city taxes paid, the value of city services was good or excellent. Top priorities identified by residents in the 2023 survey included growth management, traffic flow, lower utility costs, and public transportation.
The City has made key investments in roads, utilities, parks, and public safety to address the demands of our growing community. In 2025, the City:
- Continued or started construction work on road bond projects including Austin Avenue bridges, D.B. Wood Road, Rockride Lane, Shell Road, Southwestern Boulevard, and neighborhood sidewalks
- Expanded water treatment capacity with the completion of phase 1 of the South Lake Water Treatment Plant; phase 2 is expected to be complete in summer 2026.
- Addressed the demand for water in our growing city by continuing work on purchasing new groundwater supply from the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer and initiating the sale of a portion of the water utility’s service area outside the city limits
- Added police officers and fire fighters to help with response times and improve traffic safety
- Launched askGTX to provide an easy way for residents to find information, report issues, or connect with City services, as well as rideGTX, which provides vouchers to help pay for Uber rides in the city and rides on wheelchair access vehicles
- Opened the Austin Avenue parking garage providing 315 spaces
- Completed phase 3 improvements to San Gabriel Park and started phase 2 improvements to Garey Park
The 2025 Georgetown Resident Survey will allow the City to observe trends in resident priorities or preferences and benchmark results to those from other cities in the U.S. This survey ensures the City is collecting feedback from a representative sample of Georgetown residents. Results will be shared with the City Council and public in the spring.
