The City of Georgetown is introducing rideGTX, a new mobility program from TRIPPP Consulting to help residents and visitors get around Georgetown. The rideGTX program is a partnership with Uber and zTrip, a wheelchair-accessible vehicle provider, for accessible transportation 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
“Our residents and visitors now have another convenient way to get around Georgetown with rideGTX,” Mayor Josh Schroeder said. “We are excited to offer this additional mobility option in our growing city.”
GoGeo limited paratransit and rides for those 65 and older also continues as another transit choice.
For the rideGTX program, rides that start and end in the Georgetown service area are eligible for a discount when you pay for a ride on Uber and with zTrip. The service area for rideGTX includes rides that start and end in the city limits of Georgetown, plus Baylor Scott & White and Ascension Seton Williamson hospitals in Round Rock.
Here’s how it works.
Uber rides
Using your Uber app on a smartphone (iPhone or Android), riders can get up to 10 discounted rides each month. Riders pay the first $4, and the City subsidizes up to $10 per ride. Riders pay any remaining balance over $14.
Download your monthly voucher pack (up to 10 rides per month) by visiting georgetowntexas.gov/rideGTX or scanning the QR code. Vouchers will automatically be added to your Uber Wallet each month and applied to eligible rides at checkout. If you do not have a smartphone, call 1-833-USE-UBER (1-833-873-8237) to schedule a ride.
zTrip rides
The rideGTX program also includes rides on wheelchair-accessible vehicles (WAV) by zTrip. Riders who need a wheelchair accessible vehicle can get unlimited rides and pay only the first $4 per trip.
To schedule a wheelchair-accessible ride in the service area, call the 24/7 call center at 512-337-9796. Drivers will accept cash or credit at boarding. Rides can be scheduled up to two weeks in advance and may be recurring. Carpooled trips count as one trip and incur only one $4 fee, regardless of the number of riders.
Ramps are available for easy boarding on zTrip wheelchair-accessible vehicles, which meet A.D.A. and D.O.J. requirements.
