Shoppers are invited to Shop Small and Shop Local with Georgetown merchants during the annual Small Business Saturday event on Saturday, Nov. 29. Small Business Saturday is recognized as a day to support and celebrate the local, small businesses in the community.
Participating retailers and restaurants will have holiday shopping and dining specials available. The Shop Small kick-off event will be held at 10 a.m. at the Downtown Development and Special Events Office, 502 S. Main St., and the City is offering the first 600 shoppers a free canvas tote bag to use for shopping. Those first 600 shoppers will also receive a passport to collect stamps at participating businesses. Complete passports can be returned through 5 p.m. the following Saturday, Dec. 6, to the Visitors Center, 103 W. Seventh St., for a chance to win a gift basket with items from local businesses.
For the third year, the Georgetown Main Street Program will feature the Coffee & Cocoa Crawl event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Downtown coffee shops, cafes, and sweet shops will have tasting opportunities for ticket holders. Tickets are on sale now for $25 and include a keepsake mug, cookie, and samples at 10 locations downtown. A limited number of 550 tickets will be sold for the event.
The annual, limited-edition Main Street ornament will be for sale for $25 in mid-November at the Georgetown Visitors Center and at the Georgetown Art Center, 816 S. Main St. This year’s ornament features the Georgetown Art Center. Proceeds benefit the Façade & Sign Grant Program.
The Small Business Saturday event is co-sponsored by the Georgetown Main Street Program, the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, and the Downtown Georgetown Association.
