A Georgetown based rock band will be producing a new album after they officially exceeded their Kickstarter goal!
Tough on Fridays, recently landed a deal with an international record label, Golden Robot Records, and now they are on their way to producing their newest album.
“In our agreement with Golden Robot Records, we had to create a new album with all new music,” Eric Nielsen, Manager for Tough On Fridays, told Hello Georgetown. “Because of the pandemic, there were few sources of income that could quickly generate the funds Tough On Fridays needed to create the new record. We’d funded ‘A Fantastic Way To Kill Some Time’ with a Kickstarter so thought we’d give it another go.”
Nielsen said the Kickstarter for the new album ran for 30 days with an original goal of $5,300, which would allow the band, after fees, taxes and paying for rewards, to record a basic album.
“The band set a couple of “flex goals” that would provide for more funds, and a larger recording budget once the original goal was reached,” Nielsen said.
It was a slow start, he added, but the night before the Kickstarter was set to end, the band reached it’s goal!
“We now had about 24 hours to reach our first flex goal of $7,500,” Nielsen said. “And the campaign now had some momentum. Contributions kept coming, and a couple donors increased their pledges. It was all so unbelievable to us. In the end we hit just over $7,800 from pledges all over the world! We still can’t believe how much the bands family, friends and fans want Caleigh & Carly to achieve their dreams!”
All the money raised will be used to pay for studio time, mixing and mastering the record, the album artwork and for the studio musicians that are needed for the project, Nielsen said. Any money remaining will go towards funding touring and merchandise costs.
Since this is Tough on Fridays first album with Golden Robot Records, they are working closely with the company on how to best release their new music to the world.
The band is also looking forward to a very busy year and a major milestone.
“With the current lineup, Tough On Fridays just reached its one year anniversary. Carly (Fairchild) hasn’t been on any of the recordings yet, only the live shows,” Nielsen said. “So, the most exciting thing for the band has to be getting into the studio to work on all the new songs. Caleigh (Oceguera – Tough On Fridays’ vocalist, guitarist and songwriter) has already written six new songs! Our fans are already waiting to see what’s next!”
