Living Grace Canine Ranch is the largest 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to saving, serving, and valuing the lives of displaced Texas senior dogs. Inclusive of all breeds, LGCR’s sanctuary represents an alternative lifestyle for sheltered high-risk aging dogs with medical, emotional or physical challenges.
Iconic Georgetown Philanthropist, Jack Garey, a 91 year old millionaire who donated his 525 acre ranch to the city of Georgetown in 2014 has donated a building to Living Grace Canine Ranch. “Garey’s Big Dog Bunkhouse” will house up to 25 (residents) large, elderly dogs who have been abandoned or whose owners can’t take care of them any longer.
Garey, who retired from several careers as an attorney, construction company owner and real estate developer, recently told the Austin American-Statesman “I’ve had dogs all my life, and I really admired Rhonda (Living Grace Canine Ranch Chairwoman/Executive Director) for what she’s doing. She’s taking on a whole lot and giving it 100 percent…She runs a good ship and takes good care of the dogs.”
Living Grace Canine Ranch opened its sanctuary doors on December 12th, 2020 and is focused and committed to its mission: “a nonprofit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of canines, most often deemed by society as “un-adoptable.”
While Garey’s generous donation of the Bunkhouse is crucial to their mission, it’s only part of the picture. It costs roughly $12,000 per month to keep the ranch operating, with the bulk of that coming directly from donations. Now that these residents will have their very own “Bunkhouse” thanks to Mr. Garey, donors can choose a resident they would like to support by becoming a Sponsoring Angel. Help defray monthly costs like medicine, food, etc.
